Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel is a young and energetic leader of coastal  Karnataka region. Born in an agricultural family, on 7th Dec 1966, at Kunjadi in Palthadi village of Puttur Taluk in Dakshina Kannada Dist,he inherited coastal  cultural moorings  from his Late father Sri Nedyodiguttu Niranjana Shetty, Kateel and mother N Sheelavathi Shetty. He is one of the young leaders of this place, who has great organizational skills and has sincere concern for poor and the marginalized. He has been a student leader during his early days. He finished his primary education from Govt Hr Pry School, Peruvaje, Sullia Tq and continued his further education in Puttur.

Nalin Kumar Kateel started his social life by becoming a prachark (full time worker) of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS), at the young age of 18 for a period of 12 years. After his father’s death, he took over the of responsibility of managing his family affairs, agriculture and also started his professional career as a civil contractor.Subsequently his organizational skills, contacts with the people and great oratory skills drew him to politics and as a natural choice he became an active BJP worker and was involved in Party’s Organisational Matters and campaign during many elections. Subsequently he became the District general secretary of the party in the year 2004,which office he still holds.

The District recognized his services as the President of Brahma Kalashotsava Samithi of Sri Kshetra Kateel, where he did a commendable job of successfully conducting Brahma Kalashotsava in less than 4 months, a fete well appreciated by not only people of Karnataka but also by many devotees from Maharashtra ,Gujarath and Gulf countries. This achievement was recognized by appointing him as the President of Soutramani Gavamayana Mahayaga, which was one its kind  held in  recent times. It is notable that this particular Yaga had the distinction of allowing couples from all communities of Hindu society actively  taking part in  the Yaga by giving Deeksha to them, contrary to general belief that “Yajna” and “Yaga” are  conducted only by the upper caste Brahmins. Nalin Kumar Kateel was instrumental in upholding this value of social justice of providing equal opportunities for participation by all communities, as practiced during olden days.

He is the founder President of  “Matra Bhoomi Society”, Gurupura Kaikamba,which was established for the uplift of the marginalized and the downtrodden in the areas of education, healthcare and empowerment. Through this organization Nalin Kumar has reached the poorest of poor in our society.
